T&C’s To This Offer 18+ only

treypokerbannerTrey Poker is an unique casino poker variation that is a little bit similar to the popular 3 Card Poker, but features some differences in terms of how hands are valued and what payouts are awarded. The game is played using a standard 52 card deck that is shuffled after every hand has been dealt. Trey is played between two sides – the player and the dealer, most of the time, casino. In hindsight, this is one of the simplest casino games to play, but in the same time it also is highly entertaining. If you like card games, definitely give this poker type a try.

Lets move on to taking a look at how exactly Trey Poker is played as well as what has to be done in order for a payout to be awarded.

GamePlay & Rules

Every hand of TreyPoker starts with the player placing a wager on the betting boxes that are located on the table layout. There are three of them in total – Pair Up, Ante and Play bets are offered.

  • Pair Up is a bet that is independent and played by its own rules. You basically bet predicting that the three card hand of your will consist of a pair – deuces or better.

  • Ante – the main wager of the game and a bet that is placed if you want to compete against the dealer. After you place this wager, three cards will be dealt and you will have to decide whether you want to call or fold, based on the strength of your hand.

  • Call Bet – this bet is only offered if you have placed the ” Ante ”. You are not obligated to place it, but it’s your way towards earning a payout on the ante bet.

Regardless of the bet you have placed, you will get a hand consisting of three cards. If you only play the ”Pair Up” game, it will instantly be determined whether you have won or not. On the other hand, if you also have placed the ante, you will have to make the call in order for the dealer to open up his cards. Of course, you can also always fold and move on to the next hand, but if your hand is somewhat strong, calling is the best option.

Hand Values

Given that there are only three hands dealt to make a hand combination with, hands are valued a little bit differently. Well, it’s quite obvious though, but find a list of them below:

  • Royal Flush – A K Q of the same suit

  • Straight Flush – three consecutive cards of the same suit such as 5h6h7h where ”h” stands for hearts.

  • Flush – three cards of the same suit.

  • Straight – three consecutive cards.

  • Three of a Kind – three cards of the same rank.

treypokergameplayQualifying Dealers Hand

Similarly as most casino poker games, Trey Poker also has a rule for dealers hand to qualify or not. In order for you to earn a payout on your ” Call ” bets, his hand will have to be a qualifying one. Unlike in Caribbean Poker, where a qualifying hand is AK or better, in this poker type a dealers hand will be considered as qualified, when he holds at least Q high.

If Dealer Does not Qualify

Now to the greatest thing about Trey Poker – if the dealers hand does not qualify, which will happen with a high frequency, you will win an even money payout on your ”ante” bet, while your ”call” bet will be considered as a push – neither won or lost.

There are two separate pay-tables for each of the two bet types:

Pair Up Bet

  • Pair – 1:1

  • Flush – 3 to 1

  • Straight – 5 to 1

  • Three of a Kind – 40 to 1

  • Straight Flush – 50 to 1

  • Royal Flush – 100 to 1

Ante/Call Bet

You will automatically earn an even money payout on both ”ante” and ”call” bets if the dealers hand qualifies, but you’ll also earn the following bonus payouts on top. These are purely based on the strength of your hand.

  • Pair – 1 to 1 (on top of the regular payouts)

  • Three of a Kind – 3 to 1

  • Straight Flush – 5 to 1

Basic Tips

As the dealers hand has to qualify in order for him to win, you don’t necessarily have to hold a strong hand in order to win. For maximum action, bet on both – Pair Up and Ante/Call bets. You should also always call, when holding a hand of at least Q high as this is your way towards also getting paid on your ”call” bet. This is our only strategy takeaway for Trey Poker at the moment.
