Sic Bo is a casino table game similar to Craps, but with a couple of adjustments in rules. We have partnered with River Belle CAsino and offer a chance to play it free as well as learn the rules of it. Find more below!
Sic Bo, also often known as ”tai sai” or ”dai siu” is a casino table game that is very popular in Asia and played across the majority of casinos. It is also offered in all the largest casinos in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. Of course, if you are willing to play online finding this game will be simple as pretty much all online casinos have it as a part of their offerings.
The main advantage and Sic Bo, when compared to other games, is the simplicity of rules and gameplay. The whole game is a prediction of the outcome for a roll of three dice. The game uses a table layout and three dice. While it might seem similar to casino craps, Sic Bo is way easier to understand and play.
Bet Types & Payouts
Even though the game itself is a rather simple one, the amount of bets and bet types that can be made is surprisingly huge. To somewhat classify them, we have divided all bets into six main types. While there might be a couple of extra bet types depending on the variation of this game you end up playing as well as the location, these are the common ones featured by any game.
Big or Small
The most common and played wager type in Sic Bo. Big refers to a total point count of 11 to 17, when they are multiplied on all three dice. Small refers to a total point count of between 4 and 10. You will win an even money payout if you predict the correct outcome, but lose if a triple is rolled. ”Triple” in Sic Bo refers to three numbers of the same rolled in a single dice roll.
Odd or Even
Similarly as in Roulette, you can predict whether the total point sum of the three dice will be odd or even. You will lose if a triple is rolled, but otherwise win an even money payout given that your prediction of the outcome was correct.
It’s also possible to wager and predict the total sum of all three dice. This is one of the most popular bets and also one that can award you with a nice payday. I’ve gathered the total bets together depending on their payout odds, so it’s more convenient to view them.
Total of 4 or 17 – Payout odds of 50 to 1
Total of 5 or 16 – Payout odds of 18 to 1
Total of 6 or 15 – Payout odds of 14 to 1
Total of 7 or 14 – Payout odds of 12 to 1
Total of 8 or 13 – Payout odds of 8 to 1
Total of 9, 10, 11 or 12 – Payout odds of 6 to 1
Note that these are independent bets and you do not qualify for a payout at 50 to 1 odds by betting on either 4 or 17 to be rolled. You either bet on one or another, of course, you can bet on both by putting two wagers on the table layout.
Triple number bet stands for predicting that all three dice will roll off to have the same number on them, such as 111, 222 and so on. This bet typically has a really high payoff, given that the likelihood of it fulfilling is small. Most online casinos will award you with a payout at 150 to 1 odds, should you get lucky and win this bet.
Any Triple Bet
If you want to give yourself a higher chance of winning, bet on any triple rather then a specific set of numbers. This bet will award you with a 24 to 1 payout, given that all three dice feature the same number rolled on them.
Similarly as the triple bet is a prediction that all three dice will roll the same point value on them, double bet predicts that at least two of the three will have it. As long as this scenario happens, you will be awarded with a 8 to 1 payout on your wager.
You can also wager on one of the 15 combinations of numbers that will be rolled on two of the three dice such as 2&5 or 1&6. You will win a 5 to 1 payout on your wager, should the outcome be the one you predicted.
Also a very popular bet type at Sic Bo. Predict the exact number that will be rolled on the dice between 1 and 6. Payouts depend on the amount of dice you predicted correctly. 1 Number will award an even money payout, two will do a 2 to 1 and three will get a nice 3 to 1 payout on your wager.
Tips & Strategy
As the game of Sic Bo is based on pure luck and there is no room for skill to take place, there also is no strategy attached to it. However, there are a couple of tips we can give you simply based on the house edge for various bets.
The best bets to place and wager on are the Big/Small and Odd/Even as both of them feature a house advantage of approximately 2.78%. Other bets feature an advantage of up to 30%, which includes the triple bets. However, if your goal is to have a good time and a chance to hit some really big payouts, you can go for it regardless.
